This corner of the library appears to have been recently visited. The faded scarves on one wall have been taken down and replaced with wreathes of dried flowers and herbs, the paintings have been straightened up and labeled, and a small pile of new sketches sits in the center of the now-clean desk.
A note in flowing hand reads:
"To all who visit-
Thank you for your patience. I have not forgotten you. My time away from Puddleby has been productive, though long. I leave these sketches here to hold you until I finish some of my more ambitious works."
A flowing signature and a glob of wax follow the short note, and a small, oddly shaped piece of metal serves as a paperweight.
